Speaking during Television Critics Association's press tour in Beverly Hills, California, Thursday, Allen was asked whether he believed ABC did the right thing in firing Barr over her controversial May tweet.

"I go way back with Rosie and that's not the Roseanne that I know", he said. "So, whatever got in her head isn't the Roseanne that I know".

Abbott and Allen said they were surprised by ABC's abrupt 2017 decision to cancel "Last Man Standing" after six seasons, which Allen said was "very poorly handled".

"It's a very icy time". What Lenny Bruce said at the Purple Onion in 1951 ... we've gone backwards.

But while the woman has been receiving a lot of criticism and has also been making things worse with her unhinged behavior and various excuses, Tim Allen is now defending her. And as a stand-up comic, it's a risky position to be in because I like pushing buttons.

"I don't know what Roseanne [meant]", he added, "but that's not the woman I know".

'It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far, ' was one explanation.

Tim Allen is famous for being a rare Hollywood conservative... but don't expect his Last Man Standing character Mike Baxter to plant a Trump 2020 sign on the lawn.

However, when it comes to ABC's decision to cancel Roseanne, Allen said, "They had to do what they had to do and it's their decision".

Disney executives denied that there was a political agenda behind their decision.

The actor addressed questions about the politics of his character - Mike Baxter - on the show, specifically whether or not Mike would be a Donald Trump supporter. Allen said in a statement.

"We really planned, like so many other people, that Mrs. Clinton would have been president, so we had a bank of stuff going on there", Allen said. "We consider ourselves a family show with a traditional character at the center".

"There's some big surprises and good stuff coming", Allen promised.

In a surprising turn of events, the writers of Last Man Standing were actually preparing for Hillary Clinton to win the 2016 election. I'm just on the other side.
