Dad was embarrassed by my existence, says daughter of Steve Jobs

The excerpt, published in Vanity Fair's September issue, opens with a literary rendering of Jobs' final days, presided over by a Buddhist monk who instructed a visiting Lisa to "touch his feet".

Spoiler alert - though things got better between, there was no grand reconciliation (Steve died at age 56 on October 5, 2011 after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.) She saw Jobs fairly regularly throughout her childhood and remembers him dropping by to roller skate with her around the neighbourhood, rarely speaking.

According to a report in CNET, Lisa proudly told her friends that her father named, Lisa the computer after her.

Jobs and Chrisann Brennan were together from high school and their relationship was on and off throughout the 1970s - and Chrisann even worked at Apple for a period of time.

Somehow, growing up, Lisa began believing what her mother had told her, that Jobs was so rich that he would buy a new Porsche convertible every time his old one got a scratch.

During one of those visits, the girl finally found the courage to ask her father if she could have his vehicle once he was finished with it - an innocent question from a child that sparked a vicious reply. "My existence ruined his streak", she wrote.

"I'm one of the most important people you will ever know", he said.

However, in her memoir titled Small Fry, Lisa-Brennan Jobs reveals that her father lied to her until she was 27 and U2 founder Bono exposed the truth. After Steve invited her to go on vacation with him and his other family (he married Laurene Powell, 54, in 1991 and had three other kids, Eve, 20, Erin, 22, and Reed, 26).
