CNN Mocks Trump for Watching: Melania 'Had the Remote' #BeBest

President Donald Trump took to Twitter to criticize newly signed Laker LeBron James and the man who interviewed him on CNN, Don Lemon. "I like Mike!" The last line was a vintage 1990s reference to National Basketball Association icon Michael Jordan, and another burn by the president of James, who had told Lemon that Trump was "using sports to kind of divide us". "He is doing an awesome job for his community".

Following the interview on Friday evening, Trump sent out a tweet attacking the intelligence of interviewer and subject alike, saying that Don Lemon is the dumbest man on TV and that it's not easy to make LeBron James look smart.

Melania Trump's spokeswoman said the first lady is "open to visiting" basketball star LeBron James's new $8 million school in OH for low-income and at-risk students, after the president derided James's intelligence on Twitter. CNN host Don Lemon, also a target in Trump's tweet, made reference to the ill-fated campaign in a tweet on Saturday.

How? Well, in their responses to the President's tweet, CNN and Lemon both invoked the first lady's #BeBest initiative, which aims to support kindness and respect.

LeBron, who has slammed him in the past, also said he "would never sit across" from the US leader, adding, "I'd sit across from Barack Obama though".

Instead, Bleacher Report shares that Jordan has also issued a statement in support of his fellow athlete. In January, as headlines swirled about the President's alleged dalliance with a porn star (something he denies), Trump broke with tradition and took a separate motorcade to the President's State of the Union address on Capitol Hill rather than ride with him.

The interview focused on James' contributions to his hometown of Akron, Ohio, including a new public school for at-risk third- and fourth-graders there.

James said his involvement in sports was the first time "I ever was around someone white", adding, "And I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them and they got an opportunity to learn about me, and we became very good friends".

This weekend's controversy was just the latest in a long-running feud between James and the president. If Trump was going to fire back at James, that would have been a more opportune time.

And all of this was in ideal timing to of Trump's rally in Delaware County, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

This is not the first time James has been thrust into the political limelight for speaking out against Trump. Lemon tweeted. "A man who puts kids in classrooms or one who puts kids in cages?"
