Everton are looking to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on loan, according to the Mirror.

Belgium worldwide Batshuayi scored 10 goals for the Blues last season before a loan move to German side Borussia Dortmund, where he managed nine goals in 14 appearances.

The France global spent last season on loan to Stoke City, but was left out of Chelsea's pre-season trip to Australia due to injury. He was linked to Manchester United and West Ham United this summer. Manchester United need a defensive upgrade on the likes of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones and Zouma is certainly that.

Colombia centre-back Yerry Mina was one of three signings for Everton on Deadline Day, but manager Marco Silva confirmed a deal to bring in Zouma was "almost done" on Friday - ahead of their Premier League opener against Wolves on Saturday.

Mourinho was the Chelsea manager when Zouma arrived in 2014, and he seemingly has a lot of belief in the Frenchman, although it's hard to see how he will boost his options in the short-term.

The transfer window for Premier League sides shuts later today, so United will have to act quickly if they are to complete the deal in time.

Zouma is likely to be joined by Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes at Goodison Park, as the Merseyside club look to get back on track after a slow start to the transfer window.

Everton too are keen on signing the 23-year-old, but are interested in a season-long loan while the Red Devils are planning for a permanent transfer.
