Idris Elba, star of stage and screen both in the United Kingdom and U.S., has had the door opened for him by franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, according to Training Day director Antoine Fuqua. And now, even though Daniel Craig is back for likely one final round in Danny Boyle's Bond 25, it appears Elba is still a focal point of the "next Bond' conversation - whether he's interested in the role or not".

Fuqua stated that Broccoli told him that "it is time" for a more progressive casting decision, and that it "will happen eventually".

British actor Idris Elba is reportedly being eyed to take over as the new James Bond, once Daniel Craig retires from the role. Idris Elba was a massive early favourite back in 2015, but his own denials and so much time passing had bumped him down the list. You need a guy with a physically strong presence.

New rumors suggest Idris Elba may be a frontrunner to to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond. "That's the part that I'm like, 'Ugh, come on, '" Elba previously told The Independent. "Could be a woman, could be a black woman, could be a white woman, but I think, that character, everybody would like to see it have - do something different with it, why not?"
