With just an idea and $1,000 donation, the artist and his team laminated the vinyl stars over blank squares along the Walk of Fame.

Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Later that month a vandal nearly completely destroyed the star using a pick-axe, and in August the West Hollywood City Council voted in favor of a motion calling for the permanent removal of the president's star, citing "his disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country". No, it wasn't the city council.

He said they printed stars on floor vinyl, and covered the stars while they were being installed in order to avoid being attacked by any detractors.

Because the Walk of Fame, which holds 2,500 stars, is the property of the City of Los Angeles, the city has the final decision.

The Hollywood Reporter also notes some of the faux Trump stars have already been peeled up.

However, the footage shows the crew passing by others stars from major Hollywood figures Kevin Spacey and Jimmy Kimmel-neither of whom are strangers to controversy, and whose stars are still up. Spacey apologized to Rapp for any "inappropriate drunken behavior", in a Twitter post previous year.

A member of the cleaning service that deals with daily graffiti and vandalism on the Walk of Fame said, "We started at 5 o'clock in the morning and we've found about 50 stars".

"I didn't want to get hit over the head from behind".

"Rip up the president's Walk of Fame star or try to have it removed - like you're the mayor of West Hollywood or something - and 30 more will pop up", the artist told the publication.

But now some merry prankster is putting up fake Donald Trump stars all over the place.

The star has been through a rough month after being obliterated by a 24-year-old with a pick axe in late July.
