According to the Daily Mail, Paul said: "Rio Ferdinand was captain at United when I was first here".

Moments after leaving the stadium around 11.30pm, Pogba posted on social media: "I'll always give my best to the fans and my teammates no matter what's going on".

But it was when he was asked whether he was happy at Old Trafford that Pogba gave a rather extraordinary answer.

That's certainly one way to get people talking and make headlines.

"For me, it was a dream come true and wearing the armband, it's even more of an honour because of the past, the players who've worn it".

"If you're not happy, you can not give your best", Pogba said after the game when asked about what represents happiness for him.

But after Pogba produced a class performance whilst wearing the captain's armband just weeks after leading his country to World Cup glory, it seemed as though everything was happy again.

Mourinho has publicly expressed his disappointment at the club's transfer window, with only three players arriving at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, he explained: 'I think football is changing, and probably football managers should be called now more head coaches. "We have to wait until the end of November to understand if we can fight for the title".

"When you look at Mourinho when he first came into the Premier League, he was happy, he was cheeky, he was smiley, he was arrogant in a good way", Shearer said on Match of the Day. "If you're not happy, you can not give your best".

"Forget the name, the history, the shirt, every match is hard".

Pogba said "everybody was on the same page" in the France dressing room, from manager Didier Deschamps to the staff and players.

Can't imagine that comments like this went over very well with the board.

Mourinho intimidated the way United operated - and the amount of power he wielded - would be shifting following the club's Friday night win over Leicester City.
