A code violation handed out to a French player for removing her shirt on court during the ongoing US Open has sparked outrage.

"Unsportsmanlike conduct. but the men can change shirts on court".

After returning to the court and realising it was on backwards, Cornet pulled it off and promptly put it on the right way.

The Women's Tennis Association's (WTA) rules state female players are not permitted to change their clothing on court, and instead must do it in a dressing room. The WTA rules say players are only allowed to remove their shirts when they are off-court. Afterwards, social media users called the punishment "sexist".

An extreme heat policy offering female players a 10-minute break before the deciding third sets can be played, was implemented on medical advice at the NY tournament after temperatures reached up to 38C.

Just before the set began, Cornet removed her shirt in order to put it on correctly.

Former Australian tennis player Casey Dellacqua, who announced her retirement in April, said the decision was "ridiculous". Got a code violation.

US Open: Murray faces Verdasco in Second round
The sun went behind the court at one stage, which was good for the fans as well as the players. "I think it's a big improvement". Murray will play 31st seed Fernando Verdasco in the second round after he defeated compatriot Feliciano Lopez 6-2, 7-5, 6-4.

Judges may determine a defendant is ineligible for bail, such as in some murder cases where public safety might be at risk. Still, she's concerned about some loopholes such as with DUIs where there can be injuries and "devastation".

Female players were granted the breaks between the second and third set, and male players, the third and fourth.

The US Open has been accused of sexism after a male umpire punished a female tennis player for something men frequently do without fear of sanctions. Novak can take his shirt off because of extreme heat & that's ok.

Cornet's treatment is a stark contrast to Djokovic's, and Fox 35 Good Day Anchor Bob Frier believes this is "totally sexist".

"But Alize #Cornet takes a minute to turn her shirt around (with a bra on, BTW), & we're all losing our minds?!?!" Male players had a break at the end of the third set if the match was to continue.

Cornet was in the tournament against Swedish tennis player Johanna Larsson.

As pointed out by The Spun, in a recent match Novak Djokovic spent several minutes bare-chested before putting a shit back on.

Cornet went down to world No.81 Larsson 4-6 6-3 6-2 in a match lasting two hours and 24 minutes.
