Is there pressure on coach Todd Bowles to win right away?

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold bounced back from a disastrous start to his professional career to lead his team to a 48-17 rout of the Detroit Lions on Monday. Or as giddy as Bowles gets.

Darnold is going to have plenty of great plays for the New York Jets, and plenty of mistakes too.

Almost everything went right for the Jets.

Since his first pass, which was taken back for Lions pick-six, Darnold has looked like a whole new player.

The 21-year-old rookie was unruffled by the early setback and completed 16 of 21 passes for 198 yards. "It seemed like we were in his head as a defense". Matthew Stafford threw two interceptions.

Stafford was out of rhythm nearly the entire game, as he completed only 27 of 46 passes for 286 yards. They scored touchdowns on an interception return and a punt return in a 31-point third quarter. He was mercifully taken out midway through the fourth quarter and replaced by Matt Cassel with Detroit down 31. They found out quickly Patricia was bringing a change of pace: a demonstrative and louder leader.

Speaking about his new ranking, he added: "That's obviously boyhood dream stuff, something I'm incredibly proud of". Open and Then Open - although Woods has lifetime entry to the Masters and an exemption through age 60 at The Open.

"People can change and do certain things, but we have keys to read, and we have coaches, and we coach them up the best we can".

But the Jets answered in resounding fashion. And that means overture, curtains, lights for the beginning of the Jets' new season at Detroit tonight (7:10 p.m. ET kickoff) and the beginning of Sam Darnold's Jets and National Football League career. It was the first of two interceptions by Lee. It was their first punt return for a touchdown since Jeremy Kerley brought one back against the Bills on September 9, 2012. If Darnold hits Robby Anderson for a big-gainer or just milks the side of the field where Slay is not, the Jets and a mobile Darnold are more than capable of keeping Detroit on its heels.

As much as Darnold struggled with turnovers at USC, he had the moxie to overcome them and spark comebacks in a lot of games. Darnold was still holding the ball while talking briefly with Stafford on the field. Darnold faked a handoff left to Bilal Powell and rolled right.

If Darnold himself isn't getting the job done, then the Jets' running backfield just might. For the record though, the Lions did end up winning the toss. A sack from Ezekiel Ansah on third down ended the drive.

While Darnold and the offense were finding their groove, the Jets defense was dominating. Their only first down came from a Jets penalty. Big-ticket CB Trumaine Johnson joins CB Mo Claiborne, S Jamal Adams (but no Marcus Maye also due to injury) and a secondary that is billing itself as "New Jack City".

On the first play of the game, . He threw his first touchdown pass with 1:51 left in the first quarter.

Quandre Diggs intercepted his ill-advised pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown 20 seconds into the game.
