Jeff Sessions taking an interest in a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"As an influential foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, Mr. Papadopoulos was informed that Russian Federation had "dirt" on Hillary Clinton in the form of "thousands of emails" at a critical time during the campaign", Warner said.

Though Sessions testified in November of 2017 that he "pushed back" on the idea, in Papadopoulos' interview with ABC Sunday morning, he described Sessions' reaction to the suggestion at the time as "quite enthusiastic".

"I actually had reached out to [campaign chairman Paul] Manafort and told him look, I have the information that the Russian government might want to host candidate Trump", Papadopoulos said.

Warner said the committee has conducted more than 100 interviews and would still like to sit down with Michael Cohen, Mr. Trump's former attorney who pleaded guilty to fraud and campaign finance charges last month.

Papadopoulos was the first former Trump aide to be sentenced in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Moscow's interference in the 2016 election.

"At the time of my interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, I think around three or four days before that, I was at the inauguration attending parties with senior-level transition officials", Papadopoulos told George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week".

"All I can say is that my testimony might have helped move something towards that, but I have no idea".

Papadopoulos repeated that assessment of Sessions' enthusiasm on other networks as well.
