Samsung's Galaxy A7 sports company's first triple camera

Global runner-up Huawei, which surpassed Apple in shipments in the second quarter, has already launched its own triple camera phone.

Samsung today has officially launched the Galaxy A7 (2018) and it is the company's first smartphone to sport a triple camera module on the rear.

South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung has launched its first ever triple camera smartphone. The latest iteration of the Galaxy A7 apparently improves on the 2017 version of the device announced earlier past year.

According to the specs sheet, the setup consisted of the main 24MP f/1.7 snapper alongside an 8MP f/2.4 120-degrees camera and 5MP f/2.2 depth camera. Additionally, the Galaxy A7 also gets an Intelligent Scene Optimiser that allows the cameras to recognise the subject and adjust colour, contrast and brightness accordingly. The Galaxy A7 will also be available with 4GB and 6GB of RAM.

Earlier this month, Samsung mobile boss DJ Koh said the company's mid-range phones will get cutting-edge features before its flagships going forward.

For selfies, the device offers a 24MP fixed-focus sensor on the front with f/2.0 aperture. The Galaxy A7 (2018) will be available in Blue, Black, Gold, and Pink color options. The phone measures 7.5mm in thickness and weighs 168 grams. The device runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system and is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core processor. Connectivity options on the device include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80, Bluetooth v 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), ANT+, a USB Type-B, NFC, GPS, Glonass, and BeiDou. Sensors onboard include accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, RGB light sensor, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
