Forecasters: Caribbean storm could become hurricane

As of the latest advisory, the storm has max. winds of 65 miles per hour. The National Hurricane Center is forecasting a high probability of tropical development at 100%. The minimum central pressure is 1004 mb. I think the most likely scenario is that a tropical storm, or weak hurricane, will form sometime Sunday or Monday.

The complex was upgraded to a tropical depression Sunday morning.

Rainfall: the low is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 3 to 7 inches over western Cuba and 2 to 4 inches over the Yucatan Peninsula, Belize, and northern Honduras through Tuesday. Western Cuba could see isolated maximum amounts of 12 inches, the center said. Right now the National Hurricane Center's forecast path keeps it east of Louisiana with a landfall around Destin, Florida on Wednesday. The future track of the system remains highly uncertain.

Today's forecast for Palm Beach County includes a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain with highs in the upper 80s. It will continue to move off to the east, away from the U.S.
