LG has announced its third flagship smartphone of 2018 in the LG V40 ThinQ. This is the successor to last year's LG V30 and also the company's first phone to sport a total of five cameras - three on the back and two on the front.

The phone has a 6.4-inch display, which is pretty large when compared to previous releases by the company.

In terms of specifications, the LG V40 ThinQ sports a 6.4-inch QHD OLED FullVision display having an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. There is also a super wide angle camera in the three-camera array set on the back with a 107 degree, f/1.9 aperture lens. You can leverage all of their abilities individually or even combine them with a neat camera trick LG has bundled. Users can also opt to use the W7 in "watch-only" mode, which essentially turns off its smart features and boosts its battery life from two to 100 days.

There is Dual PDAF on board for automatic focusing that is claimed to be twice as fast as the industry standard, an advanced HDR feature, as well as new features like Cine Shot for creating images with animation. Battery capacity is 3300 mAh, supported with quick wireless charging and wired QuickCharge 3.0. LG V40 ThinQ boasts 6GB of RAM with a microSD card slot and a headphone jack, going against the trend.

The LG V40 ThinQ has been dated for the States, where it'll be arriving on 18 October. The phone is powered by the flagship octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS2.1 inbuilt storage. The fingerprint scanner is located in the center of the rear cover below the main camera module. Weighing in at 169 grams the V40 measures at 158.7 x 75.8 x 7.7mm.

The LG V40 ThinQ is now official, and from the look of things, it's the manufacturer's answer to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the iPhone XS Max.
