"Or who contacted us because they were alarmed that it seemed to them Judge Kavanaugh was being unjustly accused and they wanted an opportunity for these accusations to be further investigated and resolved or cleared", said Coons.

Ford said Smyth was also at the gathering, but not in the room, when she was assaulted.

On Wednesday, James Roche, Kavanaugh's freshman-year roommate at Yale, broke his silence to join the chorus of voices refuting numerous statements the judge told senators during last week's explosive hearing.

Ramirez claims Kavanaugh put his penis in her face at a Yale party 35 years ago. After speaking with Durbin, Coons - who originally did not sign the letter - said he believes there was at least some evidence against Kavanaugh in the intial investigations.

"An FBI supplemental background investigation that did not include an interview of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford - nor the witnesses who corroborate her testimony - can not be called an investigation", the lawyers said.

Senate Democrats Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said to reporters that the "most notable thing in the report is what's not in it", saying that the Federal Bureau of Investigation did not interview Kavanaugh or Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Julie Swetnick, a woman who came forward with extensive allegations against Kavanaugh, said in a statement to the Senate that Judge and Kavanaugh were present at a party where she was gang raped.

Kavanaugh has strongly denied that sexually assaulting anyone. It came up during the Senate Judiciary Committee public hearing on September 27.

Vettel Ends Ferrari Hopes by Colliding with Verstappen
Vettel came from too far back, and clumsily thudded into the side of Verstappen as sparks flew and the Ferrari auto spun around. He was penalised five seconds and could well have finished second without it, having crossed the line 1.3 seconds behind Bottas.

US Unemployment Rate Falls To 49-Year Low Of 3.7 Percent
The unemployment rate is forecast falling one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.8 percent , an 18-year low first hit in May. Households are saving almost 7 percent of their incomes - more than twice the savings rate before the recession.

Senate votes on confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh
Republicans argued the report exonerated Kavanaugh of any wrongdoing, giving senators more confidence in voting to confirm him. Senators voted 51-49 on a key procedural vote Friday to end debate on Kavanaugh, lining up Saturday's final confirmation vote.

Regarding the FBI's investigation into Kavanaugh, Coons admitted that the Democrats essentially have found nothing to corroborate the claims made by Christine Blasey Ford.

He is a former Yale classmate and Ramirez's college friend. "And so it felt to me like somebody had to get up and speak for her".

Kavanaugh said during the hearing that it refers to farting.

Brett Kavanaugh's college roommate, a potential key witness in a background investigation of the Supreme Court nominee, says he's concerned that FBI agents haven't contacted him to corroborate decades-old allegations against the judge, who he claims lied under oath about his drinking. "Brett stood out for his drinking".

The committee also released a letter from two men who roomed with one of Kavanaugh's high school classmates while they were undergraduates at Boston College.

'Jamie and Dave White hated each other, ' Kavanaugh said - implying that there may be lingering bad blood from the living situation that would motivate Roche's recent statements about him.

The fact that all of these important people, who could have provided an insight into the allegations and would have also given links that could have helped investigators to move ahead in the probe, were not interviewed or contacted goes to show the credibility of it. The entire incident and the developments after it just paint a terrifying picture of the flawed political and justice system.
