The Walking Dead's Scott Wilson Passes Away

News of Wilson's passing comes just hours after it was announced that he will appear in Walking Dead's upcoming ninth season, reprising his role as Hershel. Despite his character's death in the Season 4 midseason finale, Wilson kept Hershel's spirit alive and toured the country to meet fans.

In addition to his popular role on the horror show, Scott had also starred in movies including In Cold Blood, Young Guns II, G.I. Jane, and the 1974 version of The Great Gatsby. Rest in paradise, Scott. The network calls Wilson's character on The Walking Dead, veterinarian Hershel Greene, "the emotional core of the show".

But in recent years, it was Wilson's portrayal of farm-owner Hershel Greene in The Walking Dead, complete with full grey beard and ponytail, that will be remembered.

Wilson was a prolific actor until the end, with more than 80 film and TV credits to his name.

"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC Sunday at 9 p.m. He received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Capt. Billy Cupshaw in 1980's The Ninth Configuration. "Scott will be missed".

Wilson's Bosch co-star Titus Welliver tweeted, "Scott Wilson has departed".

"I fuckin' hated him", said a not breaking a smile Jeffrey Dean Morgan. "When I met him I wasn't prepared for his warmth & kindness or his ability to instantly make me feel like a lifelong friend".

"We were trying to lie and obfuscate for a long time, but we want to confirm that Jon Bernthal, who played Shane, will visit this season and come back", Kang said during the panel.

It remains to be seen how Sasha factors in, although Rick did act as a mentor for her and she was also Maggie's close friend and close confidant.

The actor leaves behind his wife Heavenly Wilson, who he married in 1977.
