Brett Kavanaugh participates in swearing-in ceremony at White House

US President Donald Trump says sexual assault allegations against new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh were a "hoax", pressing on an issue that Republicans have used to energise their voters.

"Our base is on fire", claims Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell. And even before the Kavanaugh controversy, the Senate race there was among a handful of close contests that could decide whether Republicans keep control of the Senate, where they have a 51-49 majority. GOP operatives say they're also seeing renewed Republican interest in states such as Wisconsin, where Democratic candidates for both Senate and governor have been polling strong.

Ford testified September 27 in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she said that during a high-school party in the 1980s Kavanaugh pinned her down, tried to take off her clothes, and pressed his hand over her mouth to stop her from screaming. Kavanaugh was added to the list via the same process after Neil Gorsuch's confirmation, and attracted immediate support from orthodox members of the conservative legal establishment, where Roe v. Wade is nearly universally regarded as an abomination.

"'I don't know. I don't know. That is because I forcefully and passionately denied the allegation against me".

'The American public has seen this charade, has seen this dishonesty by the Democrats, ' Trump said.

Another prominent Kavanaugh backer, Sen. "The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice", McConnell said after Garland's nomination.

With one confirmation just ended, McConnell also signaled he's willing to take up another high court nomination in the 2020 presidential election season should another vacancy arise.

"You always say champions win or pick points up when they're not playing well, Liverpool isn't at their best at the moment". On this occasion he modified his tactics to nullify Liverpool's threat and Mahrez felt that approach served the team well.

A special education teacher in Minnesota on Monday was putt on paid administrative leave following a controversial tweet about killing now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

That justification marks a notable shift from the argument McConnell invoked repeatedly in 2016, when he said voters "should have a say in the court's direction" by casting ballots in the upcoming election. She was the only Republican who voted against the appointment.

"'I thought "Oh my goodness, he perhaps needs to withdraw", ' said Sen".

Kavanaugh said he was thankful for the "steadfast, unwavering support throughout this process".

"I'm glad that Dr. Ford was heard", she told reporters of one of Kavanaugh's sexual assault accusers, Christine Blasey Ford. During his 30 years on the Supreme Court, Justice Anthony Kennedy was a wild card who sometimes frustrated liberals and progressives with his pro-corporate rulings (most notably, Citizens United v. the Federal Election Commission) yet often voted with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg when it came to abortion and gay rights-and the Christian Right detested him for having that libertarian streak.

"We all toughed it out together and I have to thank the Republican senators that fought so hard for this because it wasn't easy", Trump said.

So, for Democrats, such as Rep. Jerrold Nadler of NY, to say that they are going to investigate Kavanaugh for perjury and related issues if the Democrats take the House and/or Senate is not only premature, but a bad mistake, and one that will only redound to the Democrats' detriment.
