Black Ops 4's day-one patch is a whopping 50 GB

With all this said and done, how much will Black Ops 4 take up on your hard drive?

Red Dead Redemption II now holds the record with a massive 105GB install but Black Ops 4 has got nearly half that just for its day one patch - and the game won't work without it either.

In light of the comments from Scronce, it seems as though this was an intended change to discourage players from using the move without worry of any drawbacks. With Black Ops 4 lacking a solo experience to focus on multiplayer, Zombies, and the new Blackout mode, it definitely makes sense for Treyarch to give players a boost in the amount of maps they will be able to choose from. The Blackout battle royale game mode will apparently be fully playable once 16-20 GB of the install is completed.

Well, at least you can play Blackout with only 30 percent of the game installed, but still, the fact that a minimum 50GB download is required to play all of Black Ops 4 isn't great.

The PS4 essentially re-copies games entirely every time it updates, so PS4 players will need 115GB of free space to install the 50GB update.

Turkey says authorities have concrete information on missing Saudi journalist
He is an outspoken critic of Saudi Arabia who has dared to defy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom's de facto ruler. This could in theory make it possible to smuggle goods - or potentially a body - out of the country.

Most notably, however, is the size of the day one update.

Meanwhile, Xbox One owners won't seemingly require the same 112 GB of free hard drive space, but can still expect a 55 GB final install size on their system. "Download speeds may vary based on region, platform, connection type, and the speed of your internet connection".

The easiest way to get around the stumbling block is to simply purchase the digital version of the game and pre-load it. Either way, you'll probably have a decent wait ahead of you before you hop into Call of Duty this year.

Black Ops 4 is out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 12.
