Giants cut Ereck Flowers after tumultuous struggles

It seems the Giants couldn't find a trade partner for Ereck Flowers. "We appreciate Ereck's efforts". Once the line hit the field for game action, though, Flowers reverted back to old habits and the technical flaws that have stood out in his game throughout his four-year career with three different position coaches.

A trade might be unlikely, as any team acquiring Flowers would inherit the $1,692,368 he is owed for the rest of the season.

Flowers, the offensive tackle chosen with the ninth overall pick in the 2015 National Football League draft, will be cut tomorrow if the Giants can't trade him first, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Giants drafted Flowers with the ninth pick in the 2015 draft, one pick ahead of the then-St. He was supposed to be the team's left tackle for the next decade.

Still, the Giants wanted to take one more chance with Flowers heading into the 2018 season, moving him to right tackle after acquiring Nate Solder in free agency. Flowers and fellow lineman Bobby Hart also weren't part of the team's Secret Santa program a year ago and asked out of the team's finale, according to multiple sources.

New general manager Dave Gettleman also decided after last season not to pick up the option on the final year of Flowers' rookie contract.

"You hate to lose teammates", quarterback Eli Manning said when asked about Flowers' reportedly impending departure on Monday. When he finally showed, they still immediately inserted him as the first-team right tackle. "Sometimes a change of scenery is good".

Chad Wheeler has since replaced Flowers in the starting lineup.
