The match will be the called the "The Wayne Rooney Foundation International" and it will be in support of his charitable interests.

Southgate confirmed that Rooney will not wear the No. 10 shirt against the USA, but would not be drawn on whether England's all-time leading goalscorer will wear the captain's armband when he plays.

After news of Rooney's return drew a mixed response, the Football Association revealed the D.C. United striker would only make a second-half cameo appearance at Wembley.

Southgate did not rule out the possibility of the former England captain wearing the armband again. He was a great captain for us.

"I am still able to look to the future in terms of the squad we have picked", insisted Southgate. If he plays, of course he'll be the captain.

Bryce Harper reportedly received and rejected 'aggressive' offer from Nationals in September
Harper's agent, Scott Boras, has a history of extending contract talks with his free agent players beyond the holiday season. Given Harper's history with the Nationals, he seems unlikely to make a deal elsewhere without first circling back.

'Breaking Bad' film sequel reportedly in the works
Coming soon? Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is working on a two-hour film based on the wildly-popular AMC series. It could have - and probably would have - been canceled without Netflix helping fans discover the show.

"But I can understand why some people might think it makes the game a bit of a circus - and England have got an important game three days later (against Croatia in the Nations League)". It's a real good thing for everyone to be a part of.

"But also I have talked a lot to the players about the importance of the shirt, the history of the shirt, honouring the former players, and I think all the players would respect that Wayne's contribution deserves the best possible send-off".

"It's a great experience for the younger players in our team".

Kane has scored 19 times so far in his England career - 34 goals shy of Rooney's current record of 53, but was non-committal on whether he has an eye on surpassing that tally.

He said: "There's still a long way to go but hopefully I can stay fit and healthy and score a few more goals". We can't do anything about how we've done it in the past, but I know how much it meant to the squad of '66 to come to St George's Park a few months ago and have a dinner when we mentioned the entrance after Sir Alf Ramsey. "We'll see in a few years how close I am".
