The director of Final Fantasy XV has quit Square Enix and three of the four DLC episodes that were planned for the next year have been canceled. Tabata officially resigned from Luminous Productions and Square Enix on October 31st. So... that's about the end of that.

The departure follows a press release from the company reporting a "Booking of Extraordinary Loss" of 3.73 billion yen (approximately $33 million), which Game Industry points to being caused by strategy changes at subsidiary Luminous Productions. The development team Luminous has decided that it will now be focusing its efforts on developing an entirely new AAA title. This was supposed to be a celebration of the game's approaching second anniversary, and then the news hit. I wouldn't hold out much hope for plans to expand FFXV's mod tools either.

In a video presentation that was published overnight, Square Enix revealed that all but Ardyn's episode have been canceled.

Trump says Macron’s call for European Army ‘very insulting’
Trump and Macron's early relationship was marked by kisses, frequent meetings and marathon power handshakes. Speaking to reporters Friday before his departure Trump said he was "looking forward" to the trip.

"In regards to my next endeavors and near future, I have a project that I truly wish to solidify as my next challenge after Final Fantasy XV", said the game designer. "For that reason, I have chose to leave my current position and start my own business in order to achieve my goal", he explained. However, Tabata indicated that "Episode Ardyn" is still in production.

Final Fantasy XV is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Noctis and the laaads will meet the catgirl Y'jhimei and duff up Garuda, a birdy boss from the MMORPG. That's also due on December 13th.

The collaboration in Final Fantasy XV adds a special quest called Adventurer from Another World featuring a red-haired Miqo'te named Y'jhimei who shows up before Noctis and company and needs help saving the world.
