Xiaomi launches in United Kingdom with new Mi 8 Pro

The two new phones will become the latest addition to the Mi 8 family here alongside the titular model which was launched in Malaysia back in August.

Xiaomi's entry into the United Kingdom follows its arrival in France and Italy this May, and the official entry last November into Spain, its first Western European market, where it had already become the third largest smartphone vendor. Xiaomi will be opening a dedicated storefront for its products in the Westfield shopping center in London which not only includes both Mi 8 smartphones, but will also have headphones, computer accessories, and more on hand.

The list of devices that will be updated to MIUI 10 Stable build is Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Xiaomi Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi Max, Mi 4, Mi Max Prime and more.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Mi 8 Pro comes packed with a 6.21-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 2248 x 1080 pixels resolution.

It packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage but there's no microSD card slot for expanding storage.

For exmaple, the Redmi 6 with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of inbuilt storage and a dual-camera with 12MP and 5MP sensors will drop from £149 to £129. The phone comes with a pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint sensor for added security. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor clocked at 2.8GHz, along with Adreno 630 GPU. The Mi 8 Pro is now available in Xiaomi's home market - China and in the United Kingdom, where it retails for GBP 499.99, which is roughly around Rs 47,300. The rear camera setup of the Mi 8 Pro comes with several features like Portrait mode with background blurring, Dual Pixel Autofocus, 4-axis optical image stabiliser, Single-tone flash, Low light enhancement, HDR imaging, Panorama mode, Burst mode, Face recognition, and AI Beautify.
