Apple finds quality problems in some iPhone X and MacBook models

The 13-inch MacBook Pro seems to be affected by the same quality problems discovered with the iPhone X as well.

In the case of the iPhone X, Apple is offering free screen replacements for the faulty devices, while it is offering free repairs for the MacBook Pros. Incidentally, the problem appears to only affect last year's iPhone X model, which is to say that both this year's iPhone XR and iPhone XS models do not exhibit this funky usability issue.

Apple said that some iPhone X screens do not respond or intermittently respond to touch.

The company said users with eligible iPhone X devices can have their display modules replaced for free at one of its retail stores or an Apple Authorised Service Provider.

Users on online forums had complained that their phone was making "random clicks" when they weren't interacting with it, or that it unexpectedly stopped responding.

Apple hadn't previously responded to reports of problems with iPhone X screens, but it had opened similar replacement programs in the past for older iPhone models with screen issues, including the iPhone 6. The servicing is done through Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple also confirmed that its 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar) sold between June 2017 and June 2018 might have an issue that causes data loss or drive failure.
