Deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel, whose firing was sought by the office of first lady Melania Trump, will step down, the White House said Wednesday.

The Washington Post reports they were "partly rooted in a bureaucratic dispute over the seating arrangements aboard first lady Melania Trump's plane to Africa last month". She pulled resources before her journey, so the first lady's offices lacked logistic information and readily available policy documents under tensed security circumstances.

Deputy National Security Adviser Mira Ricardel "will continue to support the president as she departs the White House to transition to a new role within the administration", Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement on Wednesday.

The demand lifted the lid on battles that have raged for months between staff in the East Wing of the White House around Mrs Trump and the West Wing under John Kelly, the president's chief of staff.

Her behavior surrounding Melania Trump's solo trip to Africa in October also reportedly irked the first lady, which Noah couldn't help but poke fun at during his segment on Wednesday night. She was said to be close with John Bolton, the National Security Advisor. He is traveling in Asia this week alongside Vice President Mike Pence.

In a recent interview with ABC news she suggested there were insiders that she did not trust and that she was "the most bullied person in the world". Next on the list is Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. Ricardel had earlier served in previous Republican Administration.
