Windows 10 October 2018 Update has broken iCloud

The thing is that if you have iCloud already installed on your system, you will, unfortunately, see that you can not install the October 2018 update.

Users are encouraged not to attempt to update manually until the issue is fixed, though neither Windows or Apple have given any hint about when the fix will become available.

As the Verge points out, Windows Mail isn't really free in the sense that Gmail is, because you must ostensibly purchase a copy of Windows 10 to access it, either at a retail store or as a pre-installation on a laptop or desktop PC. The minimum requirements to run this are Windows 10 version 1803 on an x86 based machine and Visual Studio v15.8 for IDE support.

This information comes from Microsoft's own Windows 10 Update History page, where Microsoft is publicly tracking the October Update's bugs.

As for the problem itself, the iCloud app is having issues when trying to sync shared albums post updating to Windows 10, version 1809.

Super-Earth discovered orbiting Sun’s nearest star
It is the closest single star to the sun and second closest stellar system only to the Alpha Centauri triple star system. That nearby star - called Barnard's Star - is actually 30 trillion miles from Earth.

That includes blocking all such Windows 10 devices that already have the iCloud app pre-installed from getting the latest October 2018 update. In other words, Microsoft has placed an "upgrade block" on systems with iCloud installed.

This isn't the only problem that was found in the update version 1809.

It seems Microsoft's finding it hard to push out a stable Windows 10 October Update.

If we detect that your device may have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we will not install the update until that issue is resolved, even if you "Check for updates", so you avoid encountering any known problems.
The tech giants Microsoft and Apple are said to be working on resolving the same.
