The message generated so much reaction that Evans addressed it within a couple of weeks at Chicago's ACE Comic Con, although he still didn't give us a straight answer about whether he's leaving.

Out of everything we do (and definitely don't) know about Avengers 4, Chris Evans hanging up his shield and retiring from the role of Captain America is one of the near-certainties. Only because he's not done yet. "I don't want to explain what I mean, but audiences will soon understand". We do know exactly how long until the movie is released though, thanks to that mocking Marvel countdown.

Announced by Geoff Keighley, the Russo brothers being presenters may hint that we are going to see more of Square Enix's Avengers game in development by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.

Evans continued, "Part of you nearly kind of thinks: Well, if we end on the right note... and I think it really kind of does".

Russo shared in the same interview that it's certainly possible for the movie to make it to number five, but it may take some time. Maybe, but Evans and the rest of the cast still have a few months to flip-flop on the issue before we all know for sure.

Hopefully we'll see the two heroes return from the snap when Avengers 4 premieres in theaters on May 3, 2019.
