Jayme disappeared from her home near Barron after someone blasted their way in and shot her parents, James and Denise Closs, on October 15.

Katie Beers' joy quickly turned to deep concern when she learned 13-year-old Jayme Closs had been found alive in rural Wisconsin almost three months after police say a man shot and killed her parents then abducted the girl from their home.

Jayme Closs, 13, had been missing for almost three months when she approached a stranger near the small Wisconsin town of Gordon on Thursday and pleaded for help.

Jayme Closs, 13, was skinny, disheveled and wearing shoes too big for her when she approached a stranger and pleaded for help Thursday in the small, isolated north woods town of Gordon, where police said she was being held by Jake Thomas Patterson. He was jailed on suspicion of kidnapping and homicide.

"This is Jayme Closs!"

The sheriff also said Friday that it appeared Patterson "concealed her from other people. his friends". "I'm lost, '" said Jeanne Nutter, who had been walking her dog. Jayme was inside the home when her parents were killed. [But] he knew what he was doing.

"We knew she was still there. We see her picture everywhere and we have bracelets that we buy", said the woman at the cafe.

Patterson has no criminal history in Wisconsin, but his brother has had multiple run-ins with the law, including convictions for marijuana possession, bail jumping and sexual assault, online court records show. It's wild country; roadside signs admonish motorists to share the pavement with ATVs.

The teenager disappeared on the day her parents were found murdered at their house in the town of Barron.

Jake Patterson, 21, allegedly shot and killed Jayme's parents. Patterson quit, saying he was moving from the area, according to the company. Authorities are now giving her time to settle into her new home before they question her again, the sheriff added. Patricia Osborne told the Star Tribune that the suspect had gotten into trouble before.

It won't happen quickly, though, Bowers said, and people need to realize that Jayme will relive her trauma in different ways throughout her life - including if she forms romantic relationships or has children of her own. Officers arrested Patterson, 21, minutes later, based on Jayme's description of his vehicle.

Closs has been speaking with authorities after spending Thursday night in the hospital, but Fitzgerald said they're not looking to "put pressure" on the teen or her family.

"Jayme was the champion that finally said enough is enough", he told CNN's "Anderson Cooper Full Circle" Friday, "We can't be more proud of Jayme". "It will be a long road but we are family strong and we love this little girl so much!" "She's the one that helped us break the case". I figured if they hadn't found her by now that the person that did this didn't want her dead, so I had hope.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald held a second press conference regarding the Jayme Closs case.

The investigation suggested that the suspect did not know any family members at the Closs home nor had he been in touch with them, but allegedly went there with the goal of kidnapping the teen, Fitzgerald said.

She went on to say she and her family will make sure Jayme is safe forever, and thanked everyone for their support.

"I can tell you that the subject planned his actions and took many proactive steps to hide his identity from law enforcement and the general public", he said. "We don't believe he ... talked with them, had any digital footprint with them".
