Pistons' Griffin out for Game 1 in Milwaukee

Any excitement about the Pistons being in the playoffs evaporated right about at the opening tip Sunday in Game 1 of an Eastern Conference playoff series against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo slams the ball in Game 1 of their NBA Playoff series against Detroit. The two-handed push occurred after Antetokounmpo grabbed an offensive rebound.

Antetokounmpo struggled at the foul line, making only 5 of 12 attempts, but was 9 for 17 from the field and 1 of 5 from 3-point range.

Luke Kennard's 21 points off the bench topped Detroit.

The Bucks sank 15 3-pointers, just one shy of tying a playoff high, and compiled 31 assists on 44 made field goals.

Heading into Fiserv Forum, the Pistons will head into the first clash without star forward Blake Griffin, who is listed as out. It was the first playoff game since 2017 for Irving and Hayward after each missed last year's postseason with injuries.

The Bucks were without guards Malcolm Brogdon (foot) and Tony Snell (ankle).

Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris each scored 20 points, and Boston rallied in the second half to beat in in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series. Antetokounmpo and Lopez had 14 points apiece and Hill scored 13.

Jayson Tatum finished with 15 points. The lead moved past 41 when Antetokounmpo fired in a 3 from the top of the key with 4:35 remaining in the quarter.

In street clothes on the bench, Griffin was given a technical foul for arguing with an official while Drummond's foul was being reviewed.

Budenholzer led the Bucks to a league-best 60-22 record this season, leading Milwaukee to its best season in almost 40 years.
