Storms that killed at least two people in Texas and one in Louisiana crossed the Mississippi/Alabama state line early Sunday, moving the risk of life-threatening winds, strong tornadoes and large hail to a large section of the United States.

Multiple people were injured and several homes were damaged in Hamilton, Mississippi, said Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley.

If a tornado warning is issued in your area, the National Weather Service says to immediately take shelter in a basement or lower-level room away from windows. But strong winds will be whipping around Monday afternoon and Monday night, paving the way for the possibility of additional power outages and downed trees, forecasters said. Know where to go in your home if you are included in a Tornado Warning and make sure you have a way of receiving those very important weather warnings, either by cell phone or weather radio.
